CLASS DESCRIPTION

Boulder Performing Arts Summer Camps are Monday - Friday, 9AM - 3PM. Scenes and Songs from How to Train your Dragon- Students will request a character to play in this non competitive environment and be assigned a role. Everyone will have the opportunity to perform select songs from the show as well as perform a revised story line for our short turnaround. We end our week with a free performance (between 2:30pm - 3:30pm) around pickup time on the big stage. Summer camps are focused on fun, creativity, singing, dancing, and acting. Starting on Monday we meet our kids and learn about their skill levels. We play acting games to help our kids get comfortable and aquatinted with the other students. We talk about our weekly show theme and start to figure out the most important parts of the shows with the students. After writing their scripts (to help them learn their lines) we start putting our show together with songs and dances. Simple costumes will be provided. All students will need to pack a water bottle, morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. During our lunch/break time our activity depends on the students energy. We will either watch a G-PG rated movie (usually the one the camp is focused on), draw, play games, or go on a walk outside. Our classrooms have A/C and our students can get a little chilly by the end of the day, please wear/pack light layers! Hiccup is a Norse teenager from the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. His progressive views and weird sense of humor make him a misfit, despite the fact that his father is chief of the clan. Tossed into dragon-fighting school, he endeavors to prove himself as a true Viking, but when he befriends an injured dragon he names Toothless, he has the chance to plot a new course for his people's future. Taking place at Blue Mountain Elementary School in Longmont 1260 Mountain Drive, Longmont CO 80503
