CLASS DESCRIPTION
Boulder Performing Arts Summer Camps are Monday - Friday, 9AM - 3PM. In our advanced camps, students will have experience of auditioning for lead roles (if that character is in high demand) and playing roles that have more responsibility. While auditions will take place for lead roles, if you are the only person wanting to play a character, that role is yours! Even though we hold auditions our first day for leads, everyone will get a part that we will tailor to suit their skill level. All students will have the opportunity to perform songs from the show as well as perform a revised story line for our short turnaround. We end our week with a free performance around pickup time on the big stage. Summer camps are focused on fun, creativity, singing, dancing, and acting. Starting on Monday we meet our kids and learn about their skill levels. We play acting games to help our kids get comfortable and aquatinted with the other students. We talk about our weekly show theme and start to figure out the most important parts of the shows with the students. After writing their scripts (to help them learn their lines) we start putting our show together with songs and dances. There is an emphasis on choreography, staging, and singing technique. Simple costumes will be provided. All students will need to pack a water bottle, morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. During our lunch/break time our activity depends on the students energy. We will either watch a G-PG rated movie (usually the one the camp is focused on), draw, play games, or go on a walk outside. Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a sprinkle of pixie dust Wendy, Michael and John begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime, the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a band of bungling pirates and, of course, the villainous Captain Hook.
